The Edinburgh Bookshop takes your privacy very seriously. This notice explains how we use all or any information submitted on our site.

How we use information

When you order something on our website we only use the information that you provide us with to complete that order.
We never share this information with any other person or entity except in order to complete your order. Your information is then deleted.

When you give us your email address or phone number for the purpose of an enquiry or order we will reply to that email address or phone number but we will not share it with anyone other person or entity and we will not use it for any other purpose ourselves. Your information is then deleted.

On our website you can choose to sign-up to our newsletter using your email address. We will use that email address only for that purpose and will not share it with any other person or entity other than with Mailchimp which is the entity we partner with to take care of the technical dispatch of our newsletters. Should you wish to be removed from our Mailing List you can do so at any time by clicking unsubscribe on the Newsletter email.

Card Purchases

When you conduct a transaction on our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, email address, phone number and address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.

When you purchase a product through our website we do not retain your credit card information. Instead that information passes directly from you to our online payment processor. We will only get in touch with you, using your provided contact details, regarding any changes to events, event cancellations or refunds. For more information on refunds, please see our terms and conditions.

Our company is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

We use them rarely, but we do use them when beneficial for your online shopping experience - for example, during the purchase process on our website where the use of cookies speeds up return visits and helps provide us with information about the shopping cart and identify any changes. No personal information is stored within these cookies.
