Storytime Special with Alastair Chisholm: One Hungry Dragon and Space Pirate Bears!

Alastair Chisholm joins us in the shop for a very special storytime where he will read us his new picture books, One Hungry Dragon AND Space Pirate Bears!

One Hungry Dragon:

STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!

Here comes Bernardo… and he’s one HUNGRY dragon! This dragon is on the hunt for his lunch – is there anything that he won’t try to gobble up?

A hilarious counting tale featuring lots of favourite fairy tale characters, including magical mermaids, fairy godmothers, funny frogs . . . and one very big BURP!

A laugh-out-loud romp written by Alastair Chisholm, winner of Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Year, The Queen’s Knickers Award and Scottish Book Trust’s Bookbug Prize. Illustrated by Alex Willmore, winner of Oscar’s Book Prize.

SPACE PIRATE BEARS:

In the darkest depths of outer space, Princess Leona’s STAR DEFENDERS protect the galaxy from danger!

Jamie and Abby are bored, and bored. Dad, trying to work from his dining table office, has no choice but to entertain them with a story – a Space Pirate Bear story! About the author:

Alastiar Chisholm is a children’s author and puzzle creator.

His first picture book, The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears,  was shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Picture Book Prize and included in the Bookbug bags given to every P1 child in Scotland. His first novel, Orion Lost, is a sci-fi adventure and was Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Month and The Times’ Children’s Book of the Week. He has also written the sci-fi adventures Adam-2, The Consequence Girl, and the Dragon Storm series of young fantasy novels, and picture books  Inch and Grub, and The Tale of the Valiant Ninja Frog, amongst others. 

Alastiar is also a self-confessed puzzle nut and has written quite a lot of books of Sudoku, Kakuro and other puzzles, including the Kids' Book of Sudoku and Kids' Book of Kakuro series.

He lives in Edinburgh with his wife (who is lovely), two children (who are lovely but very loud), and a cat who yowls at him even when there is clearly food in her bowl.
