About Us
We opened The Children’s Bookshop in November 2007 and in 2009 we expanded and opened The Edinburgh Bookshop for our grown-up customers just up the road. In 2010, we made the decision to reconfigure the space at The Children’s Bookshop, almost doubling the retail space, and we merged both shops there, under the name of The Edinburgh Bookshop. It’s going well and it’s lovely to have everything under the one roof.
The Edinburgh Bookshop was owned by Malcolm and Vanessa Robertson, until October 2012 when a desire to resume their somewhat neglected publishing business Fidra Books saw them selling the business to Marie Moser. Marie is aided by our brilliant team of part-time staff – Cat, a hugely knowledgeable children’s specialist and Lila, a student at Edinburgh University, studying for a Phd in Scottish literature.
